It has been some time since the last installment of the hardest series ever came out. The world loved and hated Dark Souls 3. Best class to start a game with is still a hot topic of discussion as there are many strategies to success and each chooses something that suits their taste. Varied stat strength and range of abilities make it possible to create your own playing style that works within Dark Souls 3. Best starting class is a hard thing to choose, but the votes from the hardcore players will decide everything. Come, vote for your favorite class you’d suggest for a newbie!
1
Deprived - Dark Souls 3 Classes
Balanced stats across the board and starts with Soul Level 1 from the get-go. While weak at first, you can eventually develop your desired stats pretty easily. For early weapon and armor, you may go for Master's Attire and Uchigatana. In short, it's a good, balanced class for trying out builds but it's rarely optimal for minmaxing. Having every stat start at 10 only means one thing - other classes are far better at build optimization.
2
Pyromancer - Dark Souls 3 Classes
Best Dark Souls 3 starting class in terms of versatility. Pyromancer can offer decent attack and defense capabilities while also being able to use pyromancy. This guy cuts and burns his way through enemies with an axe and the wild flames that the Pyromancer controls.
3
Knight - Dark Souls 3 Classes
Dark Souls' best starting class, according to many, because of its high vitality and ability to wear heavy armor that can deflect stronger blows. You can shift the focus to spells later. Probably an ideal choice for people who are new to the Dark Souls franchise and are yet to experience the full extent of the 'You Died' grind.
4
Herald - Dark Souls 3 Classes
Starts with Kite Shield, which has 100% physical block. Has good starting equipment, but fewer and less powerful miracles than the cleric. Considering the 100% blocking ability, long weapon reach and the small healing miracle, the Herald is a very good starting class for both new and veteran players. The Herald's starting miracle, Heal Aid, restores 150 HP, which is about a third of the Herald's total starting HP. It is recommended to acquire a stronger healing miracle as soon as possible. Can immediately use Astora Straight Sword without leveling.
5
Mercenary - Dark Souls 3 Classes
The dual weapons take only one weapon slot and act as 1-handed until you press triangle/Y/two-hand. Then you'll dual-wield and be able to perform Skills. Has the highest Dexterity of all the classes with acceptable Attunement and Intelligence stats. It's possible to wield spells such as Soul Arrow early on.
6
Thief - Dark Souls 3 Classes
Highest luck, meaning the most item discovery for a starting class. The only class that starts with a bow.
7
Warrior - Dark Souls 3 Classes
This class has the lowest Attunement, Intelligence and Faith capacities, making it an ideal choice for pure melee builds. Knight's base Attunement, Intelligence, Faith and Luck are only one level higher when compared with the Warrior, but it gets more focus points in exchange. Starts with highest Strength stat.
8
Sorcerer - Dark Souls 3 ClassesDark Souls 3 Thief Build Guide
Best starting class in Dark Souls 3 for fans of magic and wizardry. Do you want to role-play as a lone mage scholar who travels through the world and possesses high Intelligence and Attunement attributes? Maxing out the Intelligence at the beginning improves an already powerful Heavy Soul Armor, turning the Sorcerer into a deadly sniping machine, ready to pick off enemies from a distance.
9
Cleric - Dark Souls 3 Classes
Best starting class in Dark Souls for those who love Faith. It also awards the player with a second healing source and a miracle at the very beginning of the game, making staying alive much easier. That is if you figure out how to use the class during boss fights.

Assassin - Dark Souls 3 Classes
Assassin is the only class with an ability that resists fall damage. This makes Assassin the Dark Souls 3 best class for those who like playing with stealth and verticality; sorcery and combat skills are also thrown into the mix. This combination is quite useful at early stages of the game, when staying alive is a necessity.

Greetings everyone! Recently, I purchased Dark Souls III but haven't started my play through yet, because I'm trying to plan and design a build. Technically, I am a Dark Souls newbie but I have put a lot of research into the series and calculated builds before I start playing which is what I normally do for most RPG's. I understand how PvP and all that great stuff works as well. I wanted to steer clear of Knight because although it is well rounded for beginners, it is the generic option and I want a challenge. Now, I know some might say, 'If you want a challenge go for Deprived!' but to me it just doesn't pay out in the long run even if it can be optimized any way you and has the lowest starting level. Then I thought Thief because it has the second lowest starting level and has the highest luck stat which will be an advantage early game to get rare items and weapons for middle to late game. I also like the stagger step the Thief has allowing him to pull of back stabs. I just want to know what attributes should I invest in? Which attributes are the highest priority for a thief build? Thanks for taking the time to read and also for any help! :D

This is the full collection of my first ever DARK SOULS 3 blind playthrough. I had no knowledge about the game prior to this run at all, I did play Dark Souls 1 though, but also with the same idea behind, so basically by the time I finished Dark Souls 1 I still had no clue what really was going on haha. During my run in Dark Souls 3 I never read anything on the internet about it, no gameplay guides, no build guides, no nothing. The mods and I also agreed that they deleted messages that had any useful advice, so it was once again a true blind run!
Welcome to our weekly series that features a community submitted Dark Souls 3 build. Dark Souls 3 build crafting is one of the most enjoyable parts of the game and a big reason for its longevity. Who better to turn to when in need of a new idea than your fellow players? To have your build featured on the blog, you may submit your best setups on our forum thread and every week we will select one at random to be featured here. Feel free to discuss and debate the build’s strengths and weaknesses but as always be constructive with your fellow Dark Souls players. This week’s build, “Dagger Guy” comes from community member Achtpuntzes and is an Luck and Vigor focused build.
Dark Souls 3 Build of the Week: Dagger Guy
It’s the “All Status Effect build-up” build. Inflicting Frostbite, Poison, and Bleed at the same time.
My favorite build. Though it isn’t the strongest around, it’s still a viable one. But more importantly, it is unique. As I’ve never seen any other guy do this. This used to be a Vigor/Luck build with the rest of its stats at base, or at least at the minimum requirements, for use with a pair of Poison and Bleed infused Bandit knives.
However, at some point I decided to mix things up just for fun with Frostbite damage build-up and the opportunity to add an Avelynn with Splintering Bolts. And it has worked quite well, so i decided to stick with the new toon.
Stats & Vitals
*Also, at 99 Hollowed.
**PvE is a beast too; playthrough was real easy including both DLCs.
Weapons, Armor, Rings & Spells
*When I’m in the mood for it, I add an Avelynn with Splintering Bolts.
**Something ultralight to stay way under 30% equip. load.
***The last ring you don’t really need, as “Dagger Guy” doesn’t take much stamina. But if you’d like, you can be a little bit more aggressive, so feel free to swap to another ring of choice.
****You can also add a third Hollow-infused Bandit Knife and swap Hidden Body to Frozen Weapon. But, Hidden Body is real fun on an aggressive Quickstep “Dagger Guy”, so I’d go for that one.
Strategy
Be highly aggressive. Inflict the status ailments as fast as possible so that your opponent will have 3 effects building up at the same time. Good chance they will panic at some point. First, I would freeze them with Snap Freeze; and it’s quite easy to do with the fast casting Witch Tree Branch stave, and also cast Hidden Body in the frost cloud.
Then I two-hand my Poison-infused Bandit Knife and go max aggro-style on the opponent to poison them. Now that the opponent has been frostbitten and poisoned, and since Bandit knives innately do some bleed, their Bleed bar should almost be filled as well. Then, it’s a piece of cake to finish them off with the Bleed-infused Bandit Knife.
The simple Caestus gives you near infinite Quickstep use as it fills up FP slowly. And since I have 16 STR and 14 DEX, I can also wield an Avelyn and shoot away Splintering Bolts if I’m in the mood for it. If they don’t have any Purple Moss to heal the poison, I can just stop attacking when they’re close to death and let the poison kill them, just for the fun of it.
The strength of this build is in your own hands. Assuming that you can master the timing of Quickstep, you’re kinda invincible 1 vs 1 because you can quickstep through ANY attack from your opponent. Against slower weapons, you can quickstep by sight, and against fast weapons, you need to anticipate attacks for your quickstep. Also, don’t spam R1 so much on parry fishers and instead mix up your R1s with quickstep.
So, if you master Quickstep timing, you’ll be OK. But sometimes the lag is against you and then you need some luck, so adjust your timing a bit to still have a chance. Furthermore, notice that Curved Swords and Curved Greatswords have smaller windows for your quickstep, therefore, be careful when facing them. Another thing to mention is that this build isn’t the best gank spank build, but is doable if mastered.
Lastly, a nice thing is that opponents can read this build wrong at start of a fight. They’ll assume I’m a mage when I cast Snap Freeze and Hidden Body, and then rush into melee distance where I can slaughter them.
